- Unsettled with below average temperatures heading into
  Thanksgiving Holiday.

.DISCUSSION...(Today Through Wednesday)
Issued at 140 AM MST Thu Nov 21 2024

Current surface map places high pressure across the Northern
Plains. A few high clouds across the area with temperatures in the
20s. Mild and dry conditions expected through Saturday with
upper level ridge across the area. Weak/shallow cold front
expected to slip into northwestern South Dakota on Friday, then
lift back northward on Saturday. Forecast soundings indicated some
potential for low stratus north of the front which may keep
temperatures a bit cooler than current forecast.

Upper flow becomes zonal Sunday with decent shortwave tracking
across Montana/North Dakota. Cold front drops through the area
early Sunday. 3-5mb/3hr pressure rises and robust cold advection
will result in gusty northwest winds. May be a bit of light
snow/flurries across the area with little to no accumulation. Cold
temperatures continue through next week. Embedded impulses in
flow may bring some chances for light snow with only minor
accumulations expected at this time.
